What is Heart of Oak?

Inspired by Heart of Oak, the official march of the Royal Navy, the Heart of Oak Memory Tree enables supporters of Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity to commemorate their loved ones, recognise their service or contribution to naval life and honour their memory in a location rich in Royal Navy history.

Each oak-shaped metal leaf is engraved and displayed on the Memory Tree which is made from steel and stands proud in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. A virtual version of your leaf and Memory Page are also available to share memories and photos online.

Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity

Why support us?

Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity is the principal charity of the Royal Navy. We are at the heart of supporting our Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel and their families, past, present and future. The health and wellbeing of all our people is vital and we support services that help with both their physical and mental welfare.

Helping the wider naval community lies at the heart of what we do. We support families and partners, funding services which offer relationship and bereavement counselling, provide guidance with employment and the transition into civilian life, and help people access care in retirement.

By commemorating a loved one on the Heart of Oak Memory Tree and setting up a regular donation, you'll be helping to ensure that our serving personnel, veterans and their families are valued and supported, for life. Thank you.
